Welcome to Martha Hughes Lace

Inspired by the Irish seasons, nature and colours, I have designed and created a collection of textured tactile pieces that show a modern twist to Carrickmacross Lace.

The varying colours, shapes and textures, which we are surrounded with in nature, are the inspiration for some of my work preserving the tradition and characteristics of this special form of lace while at the same time opening it up to new 3D designs, effects and colour. My lace is a combination of traditional and contemporary art form.
